About the PVSA
AmPowering values and appreciates all volunteer hard work and support. We are a certified organization to nominate volunteers to receive recognition from the President of the USA. Led by AmeriCorps and managed with Points of Light.
A Certifying Organization is one granted authority to give out the PVSA. Only Certifying Organizations can certify volunteers' eligibility and order awards.
Eligibility
- US citizen or lawful permanent resident
- Must be at least five years old
- Completes eligible service within a 12-month period or over a lifetime

Unpaid acts of volunteer service benefitting others.

Political lobbying
Religious instruction, worship service, proselytizing
Court-ordered community service
Serving only family members

The number of volunteer hours required varies by age group and award level.
