Maa Ki Rasoi (community kitchen in India)
Rickshawalas or manual tricycle pullers earn an average around Rs. 250 per day, which is around $3.5-$4 per day. They usually have bigger families to support and weather conditions are not that great for them to be out in the sun or cold all throughout the day. They live in slum areas with not even bare minimum facilities and are the most vulnerable community.
There are construction workers who migrate to cities from villages for work and work during the day for as low as Rs. 200 per day, which is like $3 daily earnings. They don’t have permanent housing and live on the streets or in tents with their families with young kids.
There are many kids in the public schools or slum areas who not have access to get nutritious meals and are always suffering from malnutrition.
These are just a few cases of people who are struggling hard to sustain their lives. Like our USA food project, we have a team in India who is leading our efforts to feed low-income and homeless communities, including construction workers living in tents or on streets, street vendors, slum area families including young kids, beggars and more.
Under this program we also provide basic area-needed items & festival celebrities to slum-area families, public schools with low-income family children, orphanages and as-needed areas.
We have also provided financial assistance to low-income single moms & paid for medical bills as needed.
Our project, Maa Ki Rasoi or community kitchen, is distributing fresh cooked meals to them daily to feed them, as we know they are indeed struggling to sustain their livelihood in this tough time.
This project is done in collaboration with our sister nonprofit in India under the name Ravishing Hope Foundation. We have partnered with small businesses to provide these meals to help and benefit them as well.
Your small donation of even $5 can feed 3 people. For donating in India, please use this account details:
