Paula Sandige
Paula Sandige has been in Seattle area for over 20 years. She lives with her loving husband and have two college students who are stuck at home due to the pandemic.
As the pandemic hit, and the shutdowns began, wanted to contribute in her own ways for mask making and help low income community members. There was a lot of information out there for mask making websites and patterns. She was concerned that if she might make masks but how those will be distributed to right communities and in a organized way. Then she saw a request for help on Facebook. Through AmPowering, she signed up and making masks quickly. She helped to delivery mask making kits to others who lacked transportation. As COVID took over, the community needs grew by leap and bounds and she stepped up to meet every challenge – from Costco runs to pick up bread, peanut jelly for making sandwiches for homeless people to Michaels to get elastic for masks. She helped in delivering food boxes, groceries to BIPOC communities across Sammamish and Issaquah areas.
Paula sums her motivation in one word “care.” In her own words, ” Care the way a mother cares for her children” .
THANK YOU Paula for your selfless community service and going above and beyond. We are fortunate to have you as one of our Community Leaders.
